Fair Representation and Accountability. This citizen-initiated recall petition gives Grande Prairie-Wapiti a clear, democratic voice to defend this right.

Why this petition?

Our constituency is filled with hard working families who have been neglected by our government and the elected officials who are supposed to advocate for them. Ron Wiebe voted to limit debate on bills that invoked the notwithstanding clause which stripped the rights and freedoms of his constituents. A vote in the legislative assembly should represent a constituency, not only a party, and be responsive to the law of this province, country, and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

About

The petition application states:

“MLA Ron Wiebe voted for Bill 2, which invoked the notwithstanding clause to suspend teachers’ Charter rights, including the freedoms of expression, assembly and association. He supported passing all three readings in one day, limiting debate and preventing meaningful consultation with constituents. He endorsed an unnecessary and extreme override of constitutional rights that directly harms workers and undermines public trust. An MLA’s duty is to defend the rights of the people they represent, not to strip them away. Because his vote violates this core responsibility, this recall petition is being initiated.”

-Debbie Harris, teacher, mother and proud community member of the County of Grande Prairie (Grande Prairie-Wapiti) for over 20 years.

A strong result — 11,921+ Grande Prairie-Wapiti residents signing — sends Ron Wiebe a clear message, forcing a by-election in Grande Prairie-Wapiti.

Why stop there?
